NEET Biology is the highest-weightage section of the exam, carrying 360 marks out of 720. Scoring 350+ in Biology alone can be the difference between getting into MBBS or not.

Understanding the NEET Biology Syllabus

NEET Biology covers two main areas:

  • Botany (Plant Biology): Plant physiology, reproduction, ecology
  • Zoology (Animal Biology): Human physiology, genetics, evolution
  • Both sections carry equal weight, so you cannot afford to neglect either.

    High-Yield Topics

Based on analysis of past 10 years of NEET papers, the following topics have the highest question frequency:

    Botany:

  • Plant Physiology (Photosynthesis, Respiration, Plant Growth)
  • Reproduction in Flowering Plants
  • Genetics and Evolution
  • Ecology and Environment
  • Zoology:

  • Human Physiology (Digestion, Circulation, Excretion)
  • Genetics (Mendelian and Molecular)
  • Animal Kingdom Classification
  • Human Health and Disease
  • The 350+ Strategy

    Step 1: Complete NCERT thoroughly

Every single word of NCERT Biology (Class 11 and 12) is exam material. Don't skip anything, not even the examples in boxes.

    Step 2: Make concept maps

For complex topics like genetics and ecology, draw concept maps connecting related ideas. This helps in understanding relationships, not just isolated facts.

Step 3: Practice previous year questions

Solve at least 10 years of NEET Biology PYQs. You'll notice patterns in how questions are framed.

    Step 4: Revise diagrams

NEET often tests diagram-based questions. Practice drawing and labeling: plant cell, heart, kidney, brain, digestive system.

    Final Week Strategy

  • Days 7–4: Revise high-yield topics using concept maps
  • Days 3–2: Solve 2 full mock tests daily
  • Day 1: Light revision only — no new material
  • Exam day: Attempt Biology first (it's your strongest section at 350+)
